?“Measures to Prevent the Infectious Spread of Novel Coronavirus (Part 3)” released on February 27 has been revised. Please confirm the changes made.
?The Infectious Disease Risk Levels on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website have been raised as expressed in the table below. As such, the target areas for canceling unnecessary, non-urgent travel (including private travel), and target areas that require students, faculty and staff members returning to Japan to stay at home and be suspended from attending classes and/or work (“Work Ban”) have changed.

?Regardless of the history of overseas travel, the flowchart "Persons who Domestically have had Close Contact with People Diagnosed with the Novel Coronavirus or Diagnosed Suspected to be Infected" has been added.
?The flowchart “Consultation and Medical Consultations Regarding Novel Coronavirus” did not include initial cold symptoms. The document has been changed to reflect this.
?In the future, it is expected there will be an increase in infections not only from returnees overseas, but also in those who do not know the route of transmission. As such, the flowchart "Persons who Domestically have had Close Contact with People Diagnosed with the Novel Coronavirus or Diagnosed Suspected to be Infected" has been added.

As reported in the news, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) associated with pneumonia that began in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, is currently spreading.
To prevent the spread of infection, students, faculty, and staff members are requested to respond as follows. The following is the current response, and may change depending on future changes in the situation.

(Infection Spread Prevention)
1. Prevention for the spread of the novel coronavirus is the same as prevention measures for influenza. Please maintain good physical condition by getting adequate sleep and nutrition, follow coughing etiquette and wash your hands frequently with soap to prevent infection. If you are concerned about your physical condition, please consult your campus’ Health Service Center.

2. If one of the following describes you, refrain from attending class and/or work at the university, stay at home, and contact the relevant department based on the flowchart “Prevention , Consultation and Medical Examination for the Novel Coronavirus.”(PDF)

?People with cold symptoms, such as fever
?People with severe cold symptoms as described below
?Cold symptoms and/or a fever of 37.5℃ for 4 days continuously ?Strong drowsiness (malaise) or difficulty breathing (dyspnea) The following people are more likely to become seriously ill. If you are one of the following, please follow the procedure if conditions persist for two days: ?Pregnant woman ?Patients with diabetes, heart failure, respiratory disease or who are on dialysis ?Those who use immunosuppressant or anticancer drugs ?Senior citizens |

3. ?(Returnees from Overseas)
4. For students, faculty and staff members entering Japan from a Level 2 or higher infected region, or those who have had close contact with said person, please contact by phone or e-mail the relevant department based on the flowchart “Students, Faculty and Staff Entering Japan from a Level 2 or Higher Infected Region, and Persons who have had Close Contact with Above Person Ver. 4.0 (2020.3.4).” The personal information collected by the relevant department will only be used for infectious disease prevention measures. Information may be provided at the request of public authorities such as health centers, but no information will be released for any other purpose without the individual's consent.

What is “close contact”?
?Living with or spending long periods of time with someone suspected of contracting the novel coronavirus (includes being in a car together or on the same flight)
?Medical examination, care or nursing care of patient suspected of contracting the novel coronavirus who is not following appropriate protection against infection
?High probability of having directly come into contact with contaminants such as respiratory secretions and bodily fluids of a person suspected of contracting the novel coronavirus
